A 39-year-old Orange woman was killed Monday when her pickup truck was struck by a big rig hauling glue, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported.
The accident happened around 6 a.m. on Texas 62 near the Pilot truck stop in Orange County, said Trooper Stephanie Davis in a prepared statement.
April Ranolls was driving a 2014 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound when she was hit by a 1995 Freightliner 18-wheeler turning left from the truck stop’s parking lot, Davis reported.
Ranolls was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner, 45-year-old Adam Dewling of Florida, was not seriously hurt, Davis said.
The highway was closed in both directions for nearly nine hours as crews worked to remove debris and glue.
