Head On Collision With Two Semi Trucks Claimed Two Lives

AMARILLO, TEXAS — A head-on collision between two semi trucks in the Texas Panhandle claimed two lives today.

Texas Department of Transportation said the wreck happened at 7:40 a.m. on Highway 385 near Boys Ranch in Oldham County.

A 2012 Volvo semi driven by Robert W. Holland, 62, of Texline, Texas, was traveling south on US 385 when he crossed the center stripe into the northbound lane. At the same time, a 2014 Freightliner, driven by Edward Walker, 62, of Umbarger was driving north. The Volvo struck the Freightliner.  The head on collision with the two semi trucks claimed two lives.

After impact, the Volvo rolled over on its left side coming to rest in the west ditch. The Freightliner continued north, running off the road and coming to a rest in the east ditch.

Holland was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but Walker was. next of kin for both have been notified. Oldham County Justice of the Peace Homefeld pronounced both drivers deceased.

Traffic was diverted on the highway until 5:30 p.m. as crews worked to clear the scene.
