Robert Clifford Melvin, 58, of Lubbock died from his injuries.

At 7:30 a.m., a collision between two semi tractor-trailers causes an explosion. The crash was just inside the city limits of Brownfield on U.S. 62/82 just north of town.

Both trucks were completely engulfed in flames.

An Alabama driver was headed southbound, got caught in the blast of the explosion and was taken to Lubbock for medical treatment.

Hazardous-material crews confirmed the tanker was carrying approximately 1,000 gallons of propane.

North- and southbound lanes of the freeway were closed near Bynum Lane in Brownfield. The Texas Department of Transportation diverted traffic to side streets.
